Clearly, on recent arrival, Chadwick was still dressed in his security attire, undoubtedly causing Malina to smile.
There was something about men in uniform that made her blush.
Removing her suit jacket, Malina stood at the head of the table, “Don’t break my oven,”
Chadwick, not even bothering to look her way, grinned, “I came in earlier than I expected. I’m fucking hungry.”
“I have leftovers,” she started towards him, with one hand pressing on his shoulder.
“I’ll just warm that up,”
“There’s no need for that,” he stated, finally placing the pan in the oven. “I’m almost done.”
Crossing her arms, Malina watched him swiftly set the timer, before moving around to straighten up after himself. It was quiet. To quiet. Perhaps he had something to tell her? Something about work? Maybe even something about Nikki? But then again, Chadwick was an upfront kind of guy. If there was something, he would have laid it on the table as soon as she walked in.
After he finished wiping the tables, Chadwick pressed a kiss on Malina’s forehead, “Welcome home,”
As he let her go, she mouthed “Thank you.” While laying her briefcase down on the counter.
Chadwick pulled a glass from the sink, heaping a generous amount of wine in it.
“Who’s that for?” she mused.
“You,” he answered shortly. “I’m drunk as fuck and I don’t want to be lonely.”
